Humphrey Jewelry

Mr. Al Humphrey has had his jewelry at 609 9th Street since 1954.  With a variety of products and styles to suit all ages and tastes, Mr. Humphrey isn't just a store owner, he's an expert in his field, and gladly shares that knowledge with his customers.

Today I decided to stop in and take a closer look at his inventory and can honestly say that I could have spent the whole afternoon in the store!  While I certainly enjoyed looking at all of the sparkly things in his cases, I think what I enjoyed most was visiting with Mr. Humphrey.  He told me about his former hobby of buying and selling real estate, explained silver pricing to me, and showed me some of the very unique items he's brought into stock.  For instance, his collection of ivory and jade necklaces are just amazing!  And in addition to having the largest charm selection in Fort Madison, he has several offerings of charm bracelets that have sturdier clasps on them that are a little more resilient for younger clients.

Of course, jewelry is the primary focus of his business, however, he has many other offerings.  Some of his services include: engraving, watch repair and battery replacement, plaque and trophy preparation, jewelry cleaning, prong checks, and there's always good conversation to accompany it all!

If you have never been in Humphrey Jewelry or if it's been awhile, I encourage you to stop in.  Take time to look through those cases at the treasures that are to be found and be sure to thank Mr. Al Humphrey for his continued support of our business community.  He certainly could retire any time, but Mr. Humphrey still loves his day job and loves being surrounded by beauty all day long.  Stop in soon and take in some of that beauty for yourself!
